A tear and share bread that is great to entertain a crowd.
Ingredients:
Dough:
500g Strong White Flour
2 teaspoons Sugar
2 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
310ml water
1 1/4 teaspoon dried yeast
Filling:
One large garlic
Olive oil
Topping:
Olive oil
Rosemary
Method:
Make the dough. Leave to prove until doubled in size.
In the meantime, peel and crush the cloves of garlic. Mix with olive oil to the consistency of soft toothpaste.
Roll the dough out into a rectangular sheet until it’s about 25cm x 50cm
Spread the garlic and olive oil mixture over the dough.
Roll up the dough from the short edge so that it’s like a swiss roll.
Cut the dough into 4cm slices and place close together in a greased roasting or cake tin with the cut sides up.
Drizzle with olive oil, cover with a damp cloth and allow to prove until doubled in size. Sprinkle lightly with rosemary.
Bake in preheated oven at 220 degrees Celsius for about 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.
